Protect Your Assets with the NEW Command Shield!

Crown Matting Technologies is excited to introduce our newest product the Command Shield! The Command Shield is a low-profile mat with a highly absorbent top surface, layered with a thin moisture barrier and an adhesive backing that allows the mat to be adhered to the floor’s surface, preventing shifting, or ruffling of the mat. The low-profile design allows easy use of carts, pallet jacks, and wheelchairs to easily roll right over without any difficulty or mat movement. Command Shield is ADA Compliant and NFSI-certified for high traction.

Command shield is available in a roll size of 3’x100’, due to the nature of this mat being a disposable mat, the roll can be cut down to size to replace mats as needed, placing the rest in storage till replacements are needed again. The life of the mat is approximately four months depending on traffic volume and application use. Crown currently offers three colors light gray, charcoal, and black. The mat consists of three layers of materials including a polypropylene top surface, a polyester film moisture barrier, and backed with an adhesive.

Applications

This sticky-backed mat can be used in many applications including but not limited to entrances, walkways, health facilities, cafeterias, grocery stores, and restrooms. Command Shield can also be used under drainage mats like Safewalk or Safewalk-Light, Safety-Step Perforated, or Dura-Step II. Pairing Command Shield with a drainage mat can help stop liquids from spreading onto the floors surrounding these types of mats preventing the potential for a slip and fall accident. This also is a great mat to use on ramps to provide a smooth surface for wheelchairs and keep it dry and safe for walking on without the potential of slipping or tripping on a thicker mat. Another suggested placement is in grocery stores specifically in areas such as fresh produce, bagged ice freezers, and coolers that perspire in warmer months or in high-humidity climates. Command Shield is great for keeping floors dry and decreasing the risks of slips and falls.

Installation & Care

  1. For best results wash and the dry floor surface.
  2. Measure out the length of the mat you want, placing the mat on the floor surface and unrolling it to the desired length.
  3. Once the mat is positioned you can cut the mat using a straight edge. It is recommended to use a safety knife to avoid damage to the floor surface.
  4. Smooth the mat to the floor surface to secure the mat in place.
  5. In heavy traffic areas, we recommend cutting corners at a  45° angle using a straight edge and a safety knife.

Command Shield should not be removed to clean the floor beneath until you are ready to replace the mat. For everyday cleaning, the mat can remain in place. The low profile allows for the use of floor scrubbers, vacuums, brooms, and mops without damaging the mat’s surface.

In wet climates or in the winter months when there is an increase of moisture being brought in on shoes will cause the Command Shield to be more saturated and can increase the dry time of the mat. The use of fans can be used to speed up the drying time of the mat eliminating the need to change out the mat more frequently. The Command shield should be replaced if it shows signs of wear, damage, or a weakened bond to the floor. Regardless of wear or damage, Command Shield should be replaced within four months. Leaving the mat for more than its lifespan could cause the adhesive to transfer to the floor.
